Cedrick Leavell

For over 18+ years to this current date, Cedrick Leavell has been working with the Warren East Band programs. He is the Director of Bands for the Warren East Middle School and the Assistant Director at Warren East High School. Under his tenure, the Warren East Middle School Bands have received Proficient Ratings at the KMEA (Kentucky Music Educators Association) Bowling Green District Concert Band Festival. Mr. Leavell has also overseen the creation of the Warren East Middle School Jazz Band and Warren East Middle/High School + Warren Co surrounding area Indoor Percussion Ensemble. The Indoor Percussion Ensemble not only made WGI Finals but also received their 1st WGI 2023 Concert A Class Gold medal!

 

Mr. Leavell has also won several awards during his time at Warren East. He was named the Third District Music Educators Association Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011. In March 2012, he received the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit Percussion Director's Award for his work with the Indoor Percussion Ensemble. He is also Kentucky's KMEA President Elect. 

 

Mr. Leavell graduated from Western Kentucky with a Master's Degree in Music Education in 2012. While at WKU, he had the opportunity to study percussion under Dr. Christopher Norton and Dr. Mark Berry.

Alex Benoit

Alex Benoit has been playing music since Elementary School in 2010. Once reaching High School at Greenwood High in Bowling Green KY he remained actively involved with the Marching Band for all four years in his high school career. As a sophomore he participated in the school's district indoor group playing vibraphone with Warren County Winter in 2016. While still in high school his junior and senior year he was fortunate enough to participate with the Independent Open Indoor Drumline group "Inov8 Winter Percussion" playing vibraphone and xylophone. He plans to continue his indoor career in the coming years.

 

Alex has also had the privilege in teaching percussion at Greenwood High School, Warren East High School and Grayson County High School. He's currently a student at Western Kentucky University studying social studies with a focus in education and music. He's been writing music for front ensemble's since high school and has recently started writing indoor and marching band shows.

Curtis Richards

Curtis Richards has been playing drumset since the 5th grade. He went to Meade County High School in Kentucky and participated in 5 years of marching band starting from the 8th grade. During his senior year he joined an independent open percussion ensemble known as "INov8" starting out in the auxiliary then halfway through the season switching to drumset.

While still attending Meade County High School, he had the privilege to help teach the Indoor Percussion Ensemble. In 2019 he went back to INov8 Percussion for their first year in Independent World Class playing drumset.

 

Aside from teaching Meade County High School he also taught Grayson County High School in Kentucky and many solo beginning percussionists. He is currently going to Western Kentucky University & Majoring in Music Education with a percussion focus & plans to teach more schools in the upcoming years.
